Class of 2018 IB Application Process
Archbishop Spalding High School supports the participation of a wide range of students in the IB Diploma Programme. Students apply for admission to the IB Diploma Programme during the month of November of their sophomore year. To apply, students must complete all parts of the application which will then be reviewed by a faculty committee. Students will be contacted to interview with the IB Diploma Programme Coordinator in December. Admission into the IB programme is a matching process to determine if the students' skills and goals fit with the offerings of the IB Diploma Programme. Students will be notified of their acceptance into the program prior to course registration in February. Applications open on Monday, November 2, 2015 and are due on Friday, November 20, 2015.
Directions for the Class of 2018 IB Application
Directions: be sure not to close your internet browser when completing the application; your work will not be saved until you hit submit at the very end. Please note that you must complete the application in one sitting, but you are able to edit your responses after submitting.Before you begin the application, answer the essay questions. It is recommended that you type your answers in Word and save them. After checking for grammar and spelling errors, copy and paste the completed essay into the online application. The application must be submitted by Friday, November 20, 2015.
1. Why do you want to be an International Baccalaureate student in the Diploma Programme? Write an original 250-300 word essay that answers the question.
2. The International Baccalaureate Learner Profile aims to create students who strive to be: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.. Select one of the listed attributes and describe an experience in which you demonstrated that characteristic. Write an original 250-300 word essay that answers the question.
